The only all-Club InterContinental in the Maldives, on a private island in Raa Atoll. The conservation programme and the all-inclusive Club model are both structural, not optional.
Conservation-led private island with all-Club inclusion.
InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau is the only all-Club InterContinental resort in the Maldives, and that designation is the organising principle of the stay. Every guest arrives into the Club tier, which means the inclusion model is not an upgrade option but the baseline. The conservation concept is not decorative.
The resort occupies a private island in Raa Atoll, one of the more remote and ecologically productive atolls in the archipelago. The island setting provides the seclusion that a shared-atoll resort cannot replicate. Villa categories run from overwater pool configurations to beach pool villas, with sunset-facing options across both.
The conservation programme is the marquee differentiator. Raa Atoll is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and the resort's position within it means marine encounters, reef health, and guided ecological experiences are built into the stay rather than bolted on as excursions.
Raa Atoll requires a domestic flight from Velana International Airport followed by a speedboat transfer. The combination adds travel time relative to North Malé properties, but the atoll's reef productivity and the resort's private island status are the return on that investment.
Raa Atoll is further from Velana International Airport than most Maldives properties. The transfer involves a domestic flight and a speedboat leg, which adds meaningful travel time each way. Guests on short stays will find that the journey absorbs a significant portion of the trip.
The all-Club model means there is no standard room tier to compare against. Guests who are not familiar with the InterContinental Club programme should ask their advisor to walk through what is and is not included before booking.
OV advises on InterContinental Maldives alongside Soneva Fushi and Conrad Rangali as properties where the atoll itself is part of the proposition. Soneva Fushi for guests who want the Baa Atoll reef system and a no-news, no-shoes philosophy. Conrad Rangali for guests who want the whale shark corridor of South Ari without the domestic-flight leg.
Who this is for
Guests who want the all-inclusive model applied at a genuine luxury level, without the compromises that term usually implies. Couples and honeymooners drawn to a private island in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve rather than a busier North Malé atoll. Divers and snorkellers for whom reef quality is a booking criterion. Guests who value the IHG loyalty framework and want it applied at the top of the brand's range.
Selected villa categories, and OV's advice on each.
OV advises specifically on villa positioning at Intercontinential Maldives: orientation, view, size relative to your group. The decisions are consequential and the price differential is real.

Overwater Pool Villa
The entry-level overwater configuration at InterContinental Maamunagau. Private pool on the deck, direct lagoon access below. All guests arrive into the Club tier, so the inclusion model applies from this category upward. The right choice for guests who want the overwater proposition without the sunset premium.

Lagoon Pool Villa
A one-bedroom lagoon pool villa positioned above the lagoon rather than the open ocean. The lagoon setting produces calmer water conditions and shallower visibility directly below the deck. Private pool included. The configuration suits couples who want the overwater experience with a more sheltered water outlook.

Sunset Lagoon Pool Villa
The sunset-facing version of the lagoon pool villa. Same sheltered lagoon position and private pool, oriented west for the evening light. The lagoon setting means the sunset reflects across calmer water than the open-ocean overwater categories. The combination of orientation and lagoon calm is the reason to choose this over the standard lagoon villa.

Beach Pool Villa
The beach villa proposition at Maamunagau. Direct beach access, private pool, and the lagoon framed from the garden rather than from above. The Raa Atoll beach setting is productive for snorkelling from the shore. The right choice for guests who prefer the beach over the overwater configuration, or who are travelling with children.

Sunset Overwater Pool Villa
The sunset-facing overwater configuration at Maamunagau. Same private pool and lagoon access as the standard overwater category, with the villa oriented west. At this latitude the evening light over the water is the reason guests pay the category premium. OV recommends this villa for honeymoon and anniversary stays.
The details that define this stay are confirmed before you arrive.
The Club InterContinental inclusion structure is not self-explanatory. OV walks through what is covered, what requires a supplement, and how to sequence the stay before you confirm. Transfers, dining, and excursion credits are all confirmed in advance.
Raa Atoll requires a domestic flight from Velana International Airport followed by a speedboat leg. OV coordinates both segments, confirms lounge access where available, and aligns the connection window with your international arrival.
Sunset orientation is available across both overwater and lagoon villa categories. OV advises on the right category and orientation for your group before confirmation, because the choice is difficult to change after booking.
Raa Atoll is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. OV coordinates with the resort's marine team to confirm guided reef experiences, snorkel conditions, and any specialist dive briefings relevant to your group's certification level.
OV pre-confirms room category, arrival arrangements, dining credits, and any sunset experiences with the resort before you travel. These are documented in writing, not left to the resort's discretion on arrival.
OV collects dietary requirements, mobility needs, and family arrangements at the planning stage and passes them to the resort in writing. The all-Club dining model means the kitchen team can prepare in advance.
